STOP! Put down the Boots gift set. We don’t
need any more smellies, and just how many candles does a person need? Not another Lynx set.
In moments
of sheer panic, we are buying our loved ones (and then the not so loved ones,
but more forced) prezzies that will only be recycled across birthdays
throughout 2016. Sorry.
Though fear not, here are some last minute
gift ideas. You won't even have to leave the house.
No more of this...
Adopt an
animal on their behalf
Everybody loves a cuddly animal, and even
better when we don’t have to clear up their muck or pay for all the extras. Contact
your local zoo or farm and see what their deals are with adopting a furry
friend, these usually come with a trip to meet them, too! Sometimes you can
even pay monthly, so you can have the package for a year and you won’t even
notice the cut from the bank account.
Even if you have left it until the last
minute, you can print out a cute picture and they’ll receive the gift packs in
the New Year as a nice pick me up. You’re also doing your bit and helping out.
Prices range from £5 to £40.

Buy your
star, a star
Now, this is a great gift. You can actually
name a star! Like, as in a star in the night sky that will be visible from your
house. Star
Registration also promise to send out the details of purchase within 24
hours, and agree to email them over ASAP. Star
Name Registry are still accepting purchases for Christmas and offer to
frame your certification! You can even choose how bright the star is, and on
some sites where you can mostly see it.
Prices range from £12.99 for the registration
certificate, to £50 for frames and gift boxes.
Lordship?
Got somebody in your life who reckons they
should be treated like royalty? Why not add fuel to the fire, or take the piss,
and buy them a Lord or Lady title? You could even get a couples package for
your significant other! Place orders before Monday noon on Lord Titles for Christmas delivery.
This
is a genuine title with the legal rights. Each pack includes five square feet
of land within the Lake District National Park, and comes with a gold embossed
certificate.
Subscriptions
Got that fussy person in your life? How about
subscribing them to something of interest? Buy a year’s Netflix (who knows where that will
lead!) or a magazine subscription, you know how some people are into those
monthly collectables. Alternatively set up a Graze
box to be sent to their house every week with some treats.
Check out Gadgette’s
list of the best UK subscription boxes, from cheese toasties to cakes to tea
and books. Wine to vinyl. There’s even a monthly period box, you know with lots
of pink pick me ups.
Prices range from £5 to £20 a month.
Day out
(adventure packs, spa, activity)
Everybody loves a day out, and buying them
just got easier! Sites like Wowcher and
Groupon offer an entire host of
different sorts of adventures – and they’ll all be local. Book a spa day, a Segway
experience, walking with
alpacas (£18), a three course meal…
You’ll even find reduced tickets for
shows, scuba
diving courses (£129), and crazy things like zombie apocalypse training
(£21). There’s something for everyone.
Print out the confirmation and allow the receiver
to choose which day they redeem it on. No fuss!
Maybe you’ll even be their +1… win.
Tickets
Similarly, book tickets to a concert or to
see a show. Even if this is in a couple of weeks’ time, team it with a small
token of representation. Grab the artist’s CD, or calendar. Going to see a
musical? Buy them a novelty microphone.
Everybody loves getting dressed up of
an evening, so it doesn’t have to be the West End – check your local theatre
for Christmas deals. This is also a great way of getting lots of gifts out the
way. EVERYBODY GETS A TICKET TO SEE OLIVER!
